15 months later......!!

Well, I'm truly ashamed to admit that it's been 15 months since my first (and only!) blog...but here I am again, keeping one of several New Year's resolutions for 2010 to get more techno savvie and start to blog again this year. I have an added incentive in that we have a cookbook on New Zealand regional cuisine to write by the end of April....yikes! So thought blogging might stimulate some creative juices.

Anyway, we're just back from a few days camping and visiting the rellies in Ohope Beach. On the way home we stopped off at the wonderful 'Julian's Berry Farm' to pick some strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and boysenberries. If you haven't been, then it's well worth a visit. There is also the fantastic 'Somerfield Berries' here in Tauranga which is a little closer to home. We use their produce on a regular basis at the Deli.
Mmmmmmm......fresh berries, eaten perfectly ripe and in the right season. Just look at Alex & Fraser's faces - luscious!

The First Blog

This is my first ever blog and I'm a bit nervous so better just get on with it I guess! We have just eaten leftover seafood rosti, steamed asparagus and a white wine sauce, followed by fresh strawberries and I got to thinking...does everyone eat like this on a Saturday night in New Zealand? Our two boys certainly think this is the 'norm', so God help their partners when they are older!! Of course, they will have been taught to cook by Dad (a professional chef) so maybe their partners will think they have a real catch...?
